Wesley's New Room!

Tonight is Wesley's first night in his new "big boy" room! We had a student artist from the local art magnet school here this week painting the mural. She finished Wednesday, and Michael and I worked into the wee hours of the morning (okay, just past midnight... but that's LATE for us these days!) loading in all of the furniture last night. Today I moved Wesley's rug, lamps, crib
bedding, etc., from the nursery into his new room. Wesley got a new crib from Mimi (one of her famous consignment sale buys), and Aunt Erin made the blanket on the bed. The desk, spindle bed, and wardrobe were in my room when I was a little girl! It's so special to see them in Wesley's room now! In fact, the desk was a gift from Santa Claus himself, and I remember thinking how magical Santa was to get it down the chimney! Michael and I reupholstered the desk chair, but the same red floral fabric that Santa made is still underneath. We were excited to see Wesley's reaction to going to bed in his new room for the first time tonight, but he fell asleep in his stroller during our evening walk, so I doubt he even remembers us putting him to bed. He's in for a surprise when he wakes up!

(below) "Wesley, Where's the
tree???"

I put him in his crib today so he could try it out, and I had a hard time getting him out of it! He was having fun!

Quick, take a picture!!! ... It only takes seconds for Wesley to pull out about twenty books and distribute then evenly about the room! We're thrilled that he loves books, but I feel like a librarian re-shelving books all day!

We still have to hang some animal print photo boards by the spindle bed where the big blank spot is and do a window treatment, but we wanted to go ahead and take pictures to document Wesley's very first night in his new room.

By the way, we wasted no time into turning the nursery into a little girl's room... Wesley went out, and the pink went in! Stay tuned for photos...

Mr. Social

As most of you know, Wesley LOVES to talk on the phone... he loves to talk, period, for that matter (wonder where gets that from??)! We'll call Mimi and Grandpa or Grandma and Granddaddy, and Wesley will walk around the house with the phone slung over his shoulder, just jabbering away! We have yet to decipher most of his language, but whatever he's saying, he's quite emphatic about it. He makes a lot of hand gestures, and he pauses occasionally to laugh at himself when apparently he's said something amusing. If you want a good chuckle, give us a call anytime... Wes is open for business!

"Who should I call next???" These photos were taken before our latest haircut... Mommy loved the curls, but the Donald Trump do had to go!

Mommy's Big Brave Boy!

Here are some photos of last Tuesday, when Wesley had his surgery. (This is the "before" photo). He was such a brave boy! I was so scared for him, but honestly he held up much better than Mom and Dad! He only cried when he first saw me after coming out of surgery. Before he saw me, he was just sitting in his crib, staring straight ahead while they wheeled him down the hall. He perked up faster than any of the other babies in the pediatric unit during recovery, and we had to restrain him from being too social with groggy babies still in pain. He really made us proud! We're thankful to have the surgery behind us. Thanks so much to everyone for your prayers!

He was so sweet not to mess with his IV... he would gesture with his one free hand and allow me to hold his sippy cup for him.

We haven't had quality snuggling time like this in months! By the next day, he was back to not sitting still for more than 30 seconds! It was hard to see him so uncomfortable, but it was so nice to get all those cuddles!

It's been a hard day for all of us!
