While Daddy was in "boring meetings," we hit the pool! (Wes was initially asking to go to Daddy's meetings, until I explained to them that they were boring. Every evening Wes would ask Daddy if he had fun at his boring meeting). Unfortunately, without other kids to play with, they never lasted long at the pool. They both really enjoyed the condo, though, and we spent a lot of time on our screened-in waterfront balcony.
Monday (July 27) was a monumental day... our first family putt-putt!! I have great memories of going putt-putt at Myrtle Beach every year when I was growing up, but we've spent the past 4 summers going to St. George Island, which doesn't have putt-putt. I was so excited to see a classic touristy putt-putt course, complete with pirate ship, caves, a windmill, waterfall... and real live baby alligators! Wesley was so excited about putt-putt that I could hardly get him to look at the gators!

Yay, putt-putting with my family! So exciting!! Michael and I used to go putt-putting when we were dating. I always thought he just let me win, but I won this game too, and I know we're well past the letting-me-win phase! Believe me, Micheal wanted to beat me bad! ha! Wes was so into it. I thought he might start to wander after a few holes, but he kept track of every "level," as he called them. He would wait eagerly for his turn, watch carefully as Daddy recorded his score, and then go and announce the next level. I was kind of tiring of it after 18 holes, but Wesley was going strong! He really wanted to play again. Wes has been begging to play putt-putt again, and after the 253rd time he asked me, I told him that we would play putt-putt with Abby, Caleb, & Gabe at the beach next year (we're looking at going to the Destin-area instead of St. George next summer). Now it's all Wesley ever talks about. He said he wants Grandma and Granddaddy and Aunt Erin and Uncle Andrew to come too. He has it all planned out.
What do you do when your 3-year-old reeeeeeally wants to play another round of putt-putt and you want to go home?? Buy him a ridiculously overpriced push-up pop and rush him to the car! Take notes, future parents... this is solid parenting at its best!
Since our trips to the swimming pool weren't lasting that long, on Tuesday I took the kids to The Imaginarium in Ft. Myers. Compared to our local children's museum, it was heavy on information and learning and sparse on imagination and play, but we still had a good time. I couldn't get Wesley to stick his head in the T-Rex mouth, so he took this picture of me. Pretty good for a 3-year-old! -Below- Wesley liked holding his hand over this air spout to make an inflatable ball fall.
Tuesday night we went to the beach on the island and saw the lighthouse, which I just realized I failed to post a picture of here. Oh well, it was tall and brown and old. -Below- I was trying to take my first official belly shot of this pregnancy, but the kids swarmed. Wesley decided to get in on the action by displaying his tummy as well. After walking the beach, we went to the same seafood restaurant that Michael and I ate at together the last time we were here in 2005.

Wesley and Anna Kate giving Daddy kisses on our balcony. We had a great time, but we're glad to be home! (By the way, the last time this conference was held in Sanibel was two weeks before I had Wesley. Wes was born at 37 weeks so I thought I still had more than a month to go. Michael said I froze him out because I cranked the AC up so high since the electricity bill wouldn't be on our dime! It was so special to return not only with my beautiful baby boy, but with an adorable and spunky baby girl! Maybe one day we'll go to Sanibel and I won't be pregnant. Just maybe.)

YOu look so great...all glowy and healthy!
I love the scowl picture and think its hilarious that Wesley calls the putt-putt holes "levels" like on a video game!
Too many vacations sounds like a pretty good problem. :) I'm sure you're ready for normal though. Just wait until you get caught up on my blog and read about the chaos that has been our life for the past week. We're all healthy and safe, but we're definitely looking forward to a vacation of our own!
Your family travels more than any family I've ever seen! How do you do it with two kids and one on the way?!?! Looks like a wonderful time though and your tiny little belly bump is precious - you look GREAT!
Maybe YOU should have taught Wes how to play Putt-Putt since you're such a pro! ;-)
Love that adorable baby bump. I also love family pics. with class kid scowls--that's a staple in our homestead =).
