Weekend Update

The hardest thing for me about having a new baby is not being able to provide sufficient play time for Wesley. He loves to go outside, but with the extreme Florida-in-July heat, it's just not possible for me to go outside with the baby. So as soon as Michael gets home from work, he takes Wes out for a little play time outside the four walls I keep him in all day long. A few nights ago, they started spraying each other with the water hose. That led to Michael filling a bucket with water for Wesley to play with. Now as soon as they go outside, Wesley just wants to sit in a bucket of water. Apparently this is more exciting than all of his outdoor toys.

Yesterday we met our good friends Marty and Jerri Ann and their family at the hotel where they're staying at Disney World. Marty is a scout for the Dodgers, and he had business in Lakeland, so he brought the whole family. I used to nanny Luke, their oldest, when he was just about Wesley's age. I baby-sat Luke full-time for about 3 months when I first graduated from college while I was job-hunting. Both Marty and Jerri Ann work out of home offices, so I felt like part of the family spending my days playing with Luke at their house. What a fun job! Jerri Ann has been an amazing friend to me, and she was my greatest helper during my wedding planning... she did it all! Luke was the ring bearer in our wedding.

Luke holding Wesley... seeing them together was so special for me! Luke will always hold such a special place in my heart. In those months I nannied Luke, I bonded with him like he was my own! It was so surreal to see Luke playing with my own son, who is now the same age that Luke was when he was "my boy."

Me, Anna Kate, Jerri Ann, Wesley, Lyla, Luke, and Ty. It's a miracle that we got a photo with all the kids looking at the camera... it took us several attempts to just corral them all into the same spot!

Wesley loves to climb up on the chaise lounge in our room and peer over the bassinet at Anna Kate. If he can't find her, he goes running into our room to look for her here! He is always very gentle. He points at her, and sometimes he leans over and kisses her. We had stripped off Sunday clothes for nap time, so both kiddos were just sporting a white onesie. My sweet hubby let me take a 2 hour nap this afternoon! I feel great! Unfortunately, Anna Kate has slept ALL DAY LONG, so it may be a rough night. But Michael still gets a gold star for letting me take a nap!
